To Catch a Rat

Well Met Travelers,

It has been a busy few weeks here at CWG as we roll out of the holiday season and back into our normal Nine-to-Fives, but that doesn't mean that our hands have been idle. We are proud to announce our first non-TTRPG title, To Catch a Rat. It's a short story set in Antediluvian, the world of our upcoming Echos of Eldritch campaign setting.

I was inspired by the scene from JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit, specifically the scene where Bilbo and Smaug have their banter in Smaug's lair. I was struck by the Idea, "What if that scene was written from the Dragon's perspective?" and I set to work.

The story revolves around the Arumoral, the Great Wyrm of the flame dragons. He is a powerful arcanist and one of the oldest beings on the planet. The story begins as he is waking up from a nap after a bothersome meeting with a group of mages. He stirs to consciousness because of a noise he will quickly associate with an intruder.

What is this thief after? Will Arumoral catch the interloper? Did Weasel want to include a third rhetorical question?

Find the answer to two of these three questions on our "Other Published Products" page.

Farewell and Stay Safe, ~Devon "Crazy Weasel" Kalo
