Morrion's Mind Stone

Well Met, Travelers,
We have a surprise release for you today. Over on itch.io, there is an ongoing game jam to write an adventure based on a fake early D&D "Appendix N" style book title.
I enjoy adventure writing contests, and this one sounded unique, so I decided to throw my hat into the ring. The rules for the gam jam were pretty simple:
"Your adventure will be assigned a made up Appendix N book title."
"Your submission must be a ttrpg module of some kind."
"The module must be no more than FOUR A5 Pages.
I was assigned the title "Morrion's Mind-Stone". Obviously, with a title like that, the adventure had to be about a magic item, but not just that, a magic item belonging to Morrion. I decided that with a name like Mind-Stone, the object had to have something to do with the mind. So many magic items in TTRPGs are based on giving a bonus; I wanted to go a different route. I decided that the stone stored memories in knowlege, sorta like an external harddrive, but for the mortal mind.
So, I know what the mind stone is, but now I need to know about Morrion. Who is this individual who crafted the Mind-Stone. He had to be someone for whom memory is important. A wizard? That seemed like too obvious a choice; I, personally, LOVE wizards, but they get a lot of attention in adventures. I wanted to make the adventure unique. I decided that Morrion was going to be a True Speaker, one of the individuals who can manipulate reality through the use of words in the Titan language.
Okay, so now I know what the stone is and who Morrion is, but why did he make it? I thought about what would be scary to a True Speaker, and I turned up with forgetting. Morrion was getting older, and his memory was slipping. Fearing that he would forget the words that he had spent his life learning, he created the Mind-Stone as a way of never forgetting.
Like any good old-school adventure, the stone had to have a colorful history, so Morrion died in an accident. His Mind-Stone, now loaded with world-altering power free for the taking, passed from user to user until it fell into the hands of Elderforge dwarves who hid it away in a fortress deep inside the bones of the earth. Unfortunately, that fortress would one day be attacked by Void Crawlers from between the Spheres of reality. A conflict ensued, and the dwarven defenders were killed.
What happened to the stone? It's still there, waiting to claim it. Will your party be the ones to claim it?
As of right now, the Appendix N game jam is still running. If you want to participate, check it out here. If you are interested in running the adventure, use the link to our DTRPG page. As with many of our adventures, Morrion's Mind Stone is PWYW.
Farewell and Stay Safe,
~Crazy Weasel
